Benjamin Ravier (Mary Taylor) Chignin Vin de Savoie '23

Mary Taylor is the founder of Mary Taylor Wine, and she works with wine growers and producers making wines that, while reflecting their region and traditions, can be enjoyed every day. The front of each bottle highlights the name of the individual farmer who bottled the wine, who in this case is Benjamin Ravier. He practices sustainable farming and harvests the grapes by hand.

The appellation of Chignin is in eastern France, at the eastern edge of the Rhône Alps and running up the southwest-facing slopes of the Bauges Mountains. In Chignin, one of the 16 subregions of Vin de Savoie, the white grape variety Jacquère is the focus of the wines made here, along with up to 20% of a small selection of white varieties, including Chardonnay and Aligoté.

This bottling of Chignin is composed of 100% Jacquère from 40-year-old vines, highlighting the freshness and vibrancy of the grape variety, which benefits from the area’s abundant sunshine, cool climate, and sloping vineyards. The grapes are gently pressed, without maceration, and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel. The wine is aged for three months on the lees, which gives it a textural, round character.
The wine shows delicate aromas of stone fruit, citrus, and flowers, with bright, refreshing acidity. A joy to drink, and a crowd-pleaser in the best way.
